I regret to say this will be my last blog post. Today, I lost everything except my clothes, flute and the money I kept in my bra. Yes, that includes my passport, all my electronics (phone, tablet and laptop) and the money I had in my purse…even the little brown rock I got from the Spanish man in Spain on the Camino last fall
I am ok though. It´s my own fault for trying to carry and keep track of too many things. I left my bag sitting on a rock on the Isla del Sol.
A new friend I made on the bus to Copacabana has stuck by my side through this and I am extremely thankful for his help. Also for the generosity of so many people who have shown compassion and provided assistance today.
I´m not sure when I´ll be able to be in contact again since I will have to rely on the availablility of a computer to communicate. My plan is to make it to La Paz where another friend I made in Cusco has friends who run a hotel and a foundation where I can volunteer in exchange for accomodation. I will also visit the Canadian Embassy there.
I think I´ll stay put for a while. Traveling has become too stressful for me. Just wanted to update everyone and let you all know that I´m fine, just sad. In my experiences good things can come out of adverse situations. The course of my journey will definitely change as a result of this, but maybe it will be for the better.
